Leading artists and scientists from across Australia participate in the first comprehensive survey of Australian art and science collaborations in China.

“The Strange Attractors exhibition and the accompanying symposium, explore startling creative projects realised through collaborations between artists and scientists. Through various national programmes, the artists have been able to undertake residencies that have afforded them access to high-end scientific tools and opportunities to work with scientists from a wide range of disciplines. The fascinating results of their collaborative inquiries into the less known or less apparent, are presented together for the first time at the Zendai Museum of Modern Art, Shanghai, China.”

Antoanetta Ivanova
Strange Attractors Curator and Producer

“The Strange Attractors exhibition and symposium continue The University of Western Australia’s commitment to enriching the relationship between Asia and Australia, and we anticipate new networks and opportunities to flow from this exciting initiative.

I extend congratulations to all the artists, scientists and their organisations for engaging in collaborative research, resulting in an innovative, stimulating and critical discourse between disciplines, mediums and understandings.”

Alan Robson, Vice-Chancellor
The University of Western Australia
